# Perfume Bottle Decoration for GCC Brands: Full-Colour and 3D Textured Printing

Sun Studio Dubai prints directly onto perfume packaging from its studio in Al Quoz. That covers flat, square and rectangular glass bottles, cylindrical bottles that suit a rotating press, and aluminium body spray, deodorant and aerosol cans. The decoration can be a single logo or a full-colour photographic artwork, with white ink where the colour needs an opaque ground, and raised logos and 3D textured finishes built up in layers of ink on flat faces. There is no minimum order, work is proofed on a printed sample of your own container before a run is committed, and fragrance brands and private-label producers anywhere in the GCC can send packaging to Dubai for printing.

## Flat, square and cylindrical [perfume bottles](https://www.sunstudio.ae/services/perfume-bottle-printing-dubai/)

The shape of the bottle decides the press, and the press decides what the finish can be.

Everything else in a brief follows from that.

**Flat, square and rectangular bottles** are printed on a flatbed. The bottle lies in a fixture and the printhead passes over one face at a time, so the front and the back are two separate passes, registered to each other. The printable area is the flat face. Where the glass curves away towards a shoulder or an edge, the distance between the head and the glass changes and detail begins to soften, so artwork that runs hard to the edge is riskier than artwork with a small margin.

Front and back is the documented layout. A third face is not something to promise from a photograph: if a design needs one, ask with the bottle in hand, and it is confirmed on a printed sample or declined. Shoulders, edges and curved corners are not printed.

![Two flat perfume bottles turned to show the artwork continuing onto their flat side faces](https://www.sunstudio.ae/wp/flat-perfume-bottles-side-faces.jpg)

*Two flat bottles turned to show their side faces. Sides this wide and flat are the case where a third pass is worth asking about, and the answer comes from a printed sample rather than a drawing.*

**Cylindrical bottles** go on a press that rotates the bottle under a fixed printhead, so the artwork wraps the full circumference with no seam and no start line. Straight-sided bottles are the easiest case. A tapered body, a flared neck or an oval rather than round cross-section changes what can be printed, because the surface has to keep a constant distance from the head as it turns. The same press prints aluminium cans.

If you are not sure which category a bottle falls into, send a photograph and the dimensions. It settles the method, the artwork layout and the price.

## The two presses

Cylindrical work runs on an **LSINC PeriQ360**. LSINC is an American manufacturer, in Huntsville, Alabama, and builds its own direct-to-object printers. The PeriQ360 carries up to four items at a time and prints a full wrap, and it can print onto clear glass without a white base underneath, which matters when a design wants the fragrance to show through. The [article on the PeriQ360](https://www.sunstudio.ae/insights/lsinc-periq360-360-bottle-printing-dubai/) covers the press in detail.

Flat faces run on a **Direct Color Systems UV84**. Direct Color Systems is an American manufacturer, in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. The UV84 is a large flatbed with an adjustable print height, which is what lets a bottle sit in a fixture rather than a sheet lie flat on the bed, and it can build ink up in layers on the same spot to produce the raised and textured effects described below.

Both machines reach the Middle East through [PRO TECHnology](https://www.protechnology.ae/lsinc-bottle-printing-machines-middle-east), Sun Studio's parent company and LSINC's regional dealer. Sun Studio is the printing studio, not the dealer: if you want the press, that conversation is with [PRO TECHnology](https://www.protechnology.ae/lsinc-bottle-printing-machines-middle-east); if you want your bottles printed, it is with us.

## Full-colour and multicolour bottle decoration

Because the process is digital, the number of colours in a design does not change the setup. A single-colour logo, a photographic artwork, a gradient and Arabic lettering are all one file, printed in one pass per face. There is no screen per colour and no plate per design, which is why several artworks can run through one production setup rather than one setup each.

**White ink** is the decision that most affects how a design looks on glass. Colour printed straight onto clear, tinted or frosted glass reads as a tint, because the glass and the liquid show through it. Printing white first gives the colour an opaque ground. The white can go under the whole design or only under the elements that need it, leaving the rest of the glass clear, and a design can leave it out on purpose so the fragrance and its fill level become part of the image rather than something hidden behind it.

![Front view of two flat perfume bottles, the artwork printed on the glass with the fragrance visible through the unprinted areas](https://www.sunstudio.ae/wp/flat-perfume-bottles-front-faces.jpg)

*Where the design leaves glass unprinted, the liquid becomes part of the image. That is a decision about white ink, taken in the artwork before anything is printed.*

**Colour matching** is done on the sample, not on screen. The first bottle is printed on your actual glass, the colour is adjusted against your reference, and it is then held across the run, which is what keeps a shelf of bottles looking like one product. What we do not promise is that a colour will reproduce identically on every substrate: clear, frosted, amber and coloured glass each shift how a colour appears, and so does the liquid behind it.

## Screen printing or digital UV printing for perfume bottles

Screen printing pushes ink through a mesh stencil, one screen per colour, and lays down a thick, opaque film. Digital UV printing jets ink from a printhead and cures it with ultraviolet light as it lands, so it prints from a file with no screens at all. One clarification: "UV" alone does not tell you which process you are looking at, because screen printing can also use UV-curable inks. The difference that matters is stencil against printhead.

| | Screen printing | Digital UV printing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Artwork** | Strongest with solid shapes and spot colours. Fine detail and halftones are possible with the right mesh and skill. | Photographs, gradients and fine detail print as they appear in the file. |
| **Colours** | One screen and one pass per colour, so each extra colour adds cost and registration. | Any number of colours in one pass. White is printed as a layer where needed. |
| **Quantity** | Screen cost is spread across the run, so it suits long repeats of one design and creates a minimum order. | No screens to pay for, so one bottle or a few hundred is a normal order. |
| **Setup** | Screens made and registered before the first bottle. | A fixture for the bottle and a proof on a sample. |
| **Design changes** | A new design means new screens. | A new design is a new file, and several can run in one order. |
| **Finishes** | Opaque spot colour, metallic and special inks through the screen. | Full colour, selective white, varnish, and raised or textured layers on flat faces. |

Sun Studio prints digitally and does not screen print. If your job is a long, repeating run of one or two solid colours on the same bottle, screen printing may be the more economical route, and we will say so rather than quote against it. Where the artwork is photographic, the range has several designs, the quantities are short, or the finish needs white, gradients or raised detail, digital printing is the method built for it. The [comparison of UV, screen, pad and sublimation printing](https://www.sunstudio.ae/insights/uv-vs-screen-vs-pad-vs-sublimation-printing-uae/) covers the other processes.

## Raised logos, embossed effects and 3D textured printing

A raised finish is made by printing the same area more than once. Each layer cures as it lands, so layers can be stacked, and stacked clear or white layers become relief: a logo you can feel with a fingertip, a textured border, a pattern that catches light differently from the flat colour beside it. On a perfume bottle this is what people mean by an embossed effect or a 3D textured print, and on flat faces it is produced on the flatbed.

It is worth being clear about what it is not. It is not moulded embossing, where the relief is formed in the glass at the glassworks. It is not engraving or debossing, which remove material. And it has nothing to do with manufacturing a bottle on a 3D printer. The bottle arrives finished and the relief is ink on top of it, which is why it can be added to stock glass with no tooling and combined with full colour in the same job.

How much relief a design supports depends on the artwork, the bottle and the finish, and it is settled on a physical sample rather than quoted in advance. Extra layers mean extra passes, so a textured job takes longer per piece than a flat one. On cylindrical bottles, ask: whether a raised element is possible depends on the geometry and the press. The piece on [raised and 3D embossed UV printing](https://www.sunstudio.ae/insights/raised-3d-embossed-uv-printing-tactile-braille-dubai/) goes into how the layers are built, and the [thousand mini bottles](https://www.sunstudio.ae/portfolio/uv-printed-mini-perfume-bottles-corporate-gifting/) job shows a white base, colour and varnish specified as separate layers on a real run.

## Aluminium body spray and deodorant can printing

Aluminium body spray, deodorant and aerosol cans are printed on the rotating press, full wrap, with no label and no shrink sleeve. Two terms get confused here. "All-over body spray" describes the product, a spray applied all over the body. "360° printing" describes the print coverage, artwork wrapped the full way round the can. The two often go together, but they are not the same word for the same thing.

The printable area is the straight section of the body. The domed top, the shoulder and the base rim are not printed, so artwork is set out for the cylinder between them, and the printable height depends on the profile of your can. Several variants can run in one order: [four Ajmal Perfumes body spray designs were printed full wrap](https://www.sunstudio.ae/portfolio/ajmal-perfumes-aerosol-can-printing/) from a single set-up.

Almost no can arrives as bare aluminium. Most carry a basecoat, a lacquer or an overvarnish, and it is that coating the ink has to bond to, which is why adhesion is tested on the actual can before a quantity is run rather than assumed from the metal. Two other things to settle early: printed gold and silver are simulated in ink, not metallic ink and not foil, so they will read differently from a metallised finish; and tell us at quoting stage whether the cans will arrive filled or empty and what the fill is, because it changes how they are jigged and handled. The [aluminium can printing service](https://www.sunstudio.ae/services/aluminium-can-printing-dubai/) covers the process in full, and [cosmetic packaging printing](https://www.sunstudio.ae/services/cosmetic-packaging-printing-dubai/) covers jars, tubes and airless bottles.

## Which materials can be printed

If you are unsure whether your specific bottle or container can be printed, Sun Studio can test your sample before committing to a production order. This material testing step is standard practice for new substrates and recommended for any bottle with an unusual coating, finish, or geometry.

- Glass (clear, frosted, tinted, dark)
- Aluminium and stainless steel
- HDPE, PET, PP plastics
- Acrylic and polycarbonate
- Composite and coated surfaces
- Ceramic and porcelain (selected applications)

## Real Sun Studio projects

These are jobs on the record, with the facts as recorded.

- [Egyptian World Cup edition](https://www.sunstudio.ae/portfolio/egyptian-world-cup-perfume-bottle-printing/): 1,250 flat square glass bottles printed direct on both faces, with the fragrance and its fill level kept as part of the image rather than covered.
- [Qatarat Al Ward](https://www.sunstudio.ae/portfolio/qatarat-al-ward-flat-perfume-bottle-printing/): 1,450 flat glass bottles carrying a desert scene with a soft sand-tone gradient, colour held across the whole run because the bottles sit next to each other on the shelf.
- [Mini bottles for corporate gifting](https://www.sunstudio.ae/portfolio/uv-printed-mini-perfume-bottles-corporate-gifting/): around 1,000 flat 50 ml bottles, four artworks in one production run, printed on the flatbed in a jig with a white base under the colour.
- [Ajmal Perfumes](https://www.sunstudio.ae/portfolio/ajmal-perfumes-aerosol-can-printing/): four body spray designs printed 360° onto aluminium cans from a single set-up, with no label and no sleeve.

## Private-label perfume brands in the UAE

The private label perfume sector in the UAE is substantial. Dubai alone hosts dozens of active private label operations, from small boutique lines to mid-volume branded collections. For many of these brands, the packaging decoration step — what goes on the bottle — is the decision that most defines the perceived value of the product.

UV printing fits private label production particularly well for three reasons:

No commitment to a fixed design. Private label brands often iterate through multiple packaging versions before landing on a final direction. With UV printing, changing the artwork costs no more than updating a file. There are no screens to remake, no plates to discard, no minimum batch requirements to justify a design change.

Sampling is practical and affordable. Presenting samples to buyers, retailers, or brand partners requires actual decorated bottles — not mock-ups. UV printing makes it viable to produce a small number of fully decorated samples without the cost structure of a production run. For fragrance startups and emerging brands, this changes what is commercially possible before committing to volume production.

Short runs are economically viable. Limited editions, seasonal collections, and gift sets are standard commercial strategies in the perfume market. UV printing supports these without requiring the same minimum quantities that make screen printing economically justifiable. A run of 200 bottles decorated with full-colour artwork is as straightforward as a run of 2,000.

## Ordering from the GCC

All production is in Al Quoz, Dubai. There are no branches elsewhere in the Gulf, so brands in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman work with the studio the same way UAE brands do: packaging travels to Dubai, is printed, and travels back.

Send photographs and dimensions first, so the method and price are settled before anything ships. Then send one or a few empty containers for a sample, printed on your actual glass or aluminium and checked for adhesion and colour before the run goes ahead. The approved sample is the reference the run is checked against. If you are considering sending filled bottles rather than empty ones, raise it before shipping rather than after: fragrance in transit is regulated, alcohol-based more strictly than oil-based, and printing before filling is usually the simpler route. Turnaround is quoted per job once the artwork and quantity are known.

## What to send for a quotation

A quotation is only as accurate as the brief. Send these and it will be right first time.

- Photographs of the bottle or can, front and side, so the shape is clear.
- Dimensions, and the material and any coating: clear, frosted, tinted or coloured glass, coated aluminium, PET.
- Quantity per design, if there is more than one design.
- Artwork as vector or high-resolution files, with Arabic and other text outlined, and a note of any brand colour references.
- The coverage you want (front only, front and back, a side face, full wrap) and the finishes (white base, selective white, varnish, raised or textured elements).
- Whether the containers will arrive filled or empty, and what the fill is.
- Destination and deadline.

## Common questions

### Can you print on flat and cylindrical perfume bottles?

Yes, on two different presses, so a range containing both is two set-ups and two samples, quoted as separate lines. Bottles that fall between the categories, such as an oval section or a flat front with rounded sides, are decided on the physical bottle rather than from a drawing, so send the bottle itself when the shape is in doubt.

### Can you print on three sides of a perfume bottle?

Ask with the bottle in hand. Front and back are the documented layout; a third face is a candidate only when it is a true flat plane wide enough for its own pass, and it is confirmed on a printed sample or declined. If a design needs to continue all the way round, that is a wrap on a cylindrical bottle, which is a different press and usually a different bottle.

### Can one design contain multiple colours and gradients?

Yes, and the number of colours is not what needs deciding. What needs deciding is what sits behind them, because the same gradient reads one way over a white base and another over clear glass and the liquid. Mark in the artwork which areas are to be opaque and which should show the fragrance through, supply your brand colour references, and the sample settles how they read on that glass.

### How does UV inkjet compare with silk screen bottle printing?

Start from the job rather than the process. One or two solid colours, one design and a long repeat run is where screen printing spreads its screen costs and can be the cheaper route. Photographic artwork, several designs, short quantities or a raised finish is where digital printing is the method built for it. Sun Studio prints digitally and does not screen print, so that choice is made in the brief.

### Can you produce raised logos and textured effects?

Yes, on flat faces, and the artwork has to be prepared for it. Supply the raised element as its own named layer, separate from the colour, and say whether it should be a clear relief over the colour or an opaque white one. No relief height is quoted in advance: the sample shows what that artwork gives on that bottle, and that is what gets approved.

### Can you print directly onto aluminium body spray cans?

Yes, as a full wrap on the rotating press; the four Ajmal Perfumes body spray designs are the recorded example. The can decides the job: its straight body sets the printable height and its coating decides adhesion, so the sample can should come from the same batch and coating as the run rather than being a generic can.

### Can GCC brands send packaging to Dubai for printing?

Yes, and the route is the same from every GCC country, because everything is printed in Al Quoz and there is no branch elsewhere. Nothing needs to ship until the method and price are settled from photographs and dimensions. The first parcel is usually a few empty containers for the sample, and the approval can be given from photographs rather than waiting for the sample to be couriered back.
