Jars are best printed empty, before filling. We print only: we do not sell jars, wax or finished candles. The design goes onto the glass itself, so a candle can carry a brand, a name or an occasion with no label edge to lift or peel in a gift box. Printed candle jars are ordered by UAE candle makers and private-label home fragrance brands, by gifting companies producing corporate and wedding favours, and by hotels and restaurants that want candle jars with their logo on their own tables. There is no minimum order. ![A carved red pillar candle beside two black candle jars printed with gold arabesque patterns](https://www.sunstudio.ae/shots/svc-candle.jpg) ## What we can print Candle vessels are mostly glass and mostly straight-sided, which makes them one of the more straightforward things we print: - **Clear glass jars**: where white ink decides whether the design reads as colour or as a tint over the wax. - **Frosted and satin vessels**: a soft ground that colour sits well against. - **Coloured and lacquered glass**: where the vessel colour is part of the design. - **Straight-sided jars**: printed as a full 360° wrap. - **Tapered and shaped vessels**: printed over the straightest part of the body. - **Metal lids and wooden lids**: so the whole piece is finished, not just the jar. - **Single pieces and short runs**: one jar for a sample, or a batch where every name is different. - **Wax pillar candles**: printed on the wax itself, as display and gift pieces. Jars are printed on the glass, ideally empty, before filling.* ## Printing before filling or after This is the practical question that most affects a candle order, and it is worth settling before jars are bought. ### Printed empty, then filled This is the route we recommend. Empty vessels are light, easy to jig, easy to clean before printing and easy to handle without risk to a finished product. It also means the whole outer surface is available, so a design can run the full height of the jar rather than stopping at a fill line. ### Printed after filling Sometimes unavoidable: the candles already exist, or the filling happens elsewhere. It can be done, with care. The constraints are real: a filled candle is heavier and more awkward to jig accurately, wax and wick residue on the glass has to be cleaned off first, and any handling risk now applies to finished stock rather than to empty glass. Tell us which situation you are in when you send the job. ## Who this is for Candle and jar work comes from: - **Candle makers and home fragrance brands**: own-label ranges in small batches. - **Corporate gifting companies**: branded candles for client and staff gifts. - **Wedding and event planners**: favours personalised name by name. - **Hotels, restaurants and spas**: branded candles for tables and rooms. - **Retail and concept stores**: exclusive or seasonal designs. - **Ramadan and Eid gifting**: seasonal runs on a fixed deadline. ## What to send before we can quote Jars are quick to quote once we can see them: - **A photo**: front and side. - **Dimensions**: diameter and height, and capacity. - **The glass**: clear, frosted, coloured or lacquered. - **Whether the jars are empty or filled**. - **Quantity**, and whether every piece is identical or personalised. - **The print area**: full wrap or a panel. - **Artwork**, and the name list if pieces are personalised. - **Your deadline**: seasonal gifting work is usually date-driven. ## How it works **Step 1** Send Photos, dimensions, quantity and artwork. **Step 2** Review We confirm the print area from the jar profile and how white should be handled. **Step 3** Sample We print one jar so you can see it against your wax and packaging. **Step 4** Produce The batch is printed, checked and packed ready for filling. ## Candles and jars we have printed Sun Studio work from Al Quoz: black candle jars printed on the glass, and pillar candles printed on the wax for an events client. ## Technical considerations A candle jar is glass, so the printing behaves the way glass does. What makes it its own job is everything that happens to the jar afterwards. What to think about: ### Glass is non-porous The same adhesion question as any glass work. Cleaning matters, and an adhesion promoter is used where the vessel calls for it. ### Heat from the candle A burning candle warms the vessel. Tell us the vessel type and how it will be used so we can sample accordingly rather than assume. ### Wax and wick residue On filled candles, any residue on the outside has to be cleaned off before printing. ### The wax shows through On clear glass, the wax colour sits behind the artwork. White ink under the design helps the colours stay the same as the wax level drops. ### Fill line On a filled candle, the wax level is visible through the design. It is worth planning the artwork around it. ### Profile Straight-sided jars wrap cleanly. Tapered ones need the printable band defined. ### Vessel size LSINC publishes container limits for the two presses we run. PeriQ360: a diameter of 38 to 114 mm and a length of up to 406 mm. PeriOne: up to 152 mm in diameter and 457 mm in length. These are the manufacturer’s limits, not a promise for every vessel inside them. Wide and multi-wick vessels need checking, so send one jar first. ### Handling and packing Printed glass is packed to protect the print, especially where jars are going straight into gift boxes. ## Common questions ### Do you sell candle jars or candles, or only print them? We only print. Sun Studio does not sell jars, wax or finished candles, and does not pour or fill. You or your candle maker supply the vessels, ideally clean and empty, and we print them and pack them ready for filling. Buy the jars from your usual supplier and send one first so we can check the glass and the shape. ### Should the jars be empty or filled? Empty is better. Empty vessels are easier to clean, jig and handle, and the whole outer surface is available for the design. Filled candles can be printed, but they need cleaning first and handling carries more risk because the stock is already finished. ### Will the print survive the candle burning? A burning candle warms the vessel, so rather than make a blanket claim we print a sample on your actual jar and check it. Tell us the vessel type and how it is used and we will test accordingly. If the candles will be burned rather than displayed, burn the sample before you approve the batch. ### Is there a minimum quantity for printed candle jars? No. There are no screens or plates to make, so we print a single jar as a sample, a short first batch for a new candle brand, or a seasonal run. Quantity changes the price per jar, not whether we take the job. Tell us the quantity with your brief so the quote matches. ### How long does a printed candle jar order take? There is no standard figure. The time depends on the quantity, whether every jar carries a different name, the ink layers and whether the jars arrive empty or filled. We quote the timing for your job once the sample is approved. For Ramadan, Eid or a wedding date, give us the deadline with the brief. ### Can every jar have a different name? Yes. There is no screen or plate, so each jar in a batch can carry a different name with no extra setup. That is why wedding favours and corporate gifts are often printed this way. Send the name list with the artwork, spelled exactly as it should print. ### Can you print the lids as well? Usually, where the lid has a printable face. Metal and wooden lids are the common ones, so the jar and lid can be finished as a set. Send a lid with the sample jar so we can check its surface before we quote. ### Can you print on the wax itself? Yes. Pillar candles can be printed all round on the wax, as we did for the Fête Events table candles. Wax is soft and heat sensitive, so the print is proved on a sample first, and printed pillars are display and gift pieces: the artwork goes as the candle burns down.
