# Cylindrical & 360° Printing in Dubai

Sun Studio prints **360° around bottles, cans, tumblers, jars and cups** at our studio in Al Quoz, Dubai, for beverage, fragrance, cosmetics, hospitality and gifting brands across the UAE. This is custom bottle printing on bottles you supply: send the containers and we print them, from one sample to a production run, with no minimum order.

Each container is mounted and rotated under the printheads, so the artwork is laid down as it turns and wraps the whole body with no seam, no join and no label edge. Full-wrap 360° UV printing is how a round container gets decorated when a label will not do: the shape is awkward, the design has to run continuously, or the run is too short to justify sleeves or screens.

## What we can print

Anything that turns cleanly on its own axis is a candidate. In practice that means:

- **Glass bottles**: beverage, water, spirits and fragrance.
- **Aluminium cans and bottles**: body spray and aerosol cans, which have their own page on [aluminium can printing in Dubai](https://www.sunstudio.ae/services/aluminium-can-printing-dubai/).
- **PET and plastic bottles**: where the plastic type decides whether pre-treatment is needed.
- **Tumblers and drinkware**: stainless, glass and coated water bottles, tumblers and flasks. - **Qahwa cups and glass cups**: small items printed in batches, once one cup has been checked for diameter and flare.
- **Jars and candle vessels**: straight-sided containers.
- **Short runs and samples**: single pieces printed before a run is committed.

## Printing capabilities

What is available depends on the profile and the material:

- **Full 360° wrap**: a continuous band around the body with no seam and no start-stop line.
- **Partial wraps and panels**: where only one face or a band is printed.
- **White ink**: printed under the artwork so colour holds on clear, coloured or metallic bodies.
- **Full colour**: photographic artwork, gradients and fine Arabic calligraphy in one pass.
- **Raised and textured effects**: on suitable geometry.
- **Varnish**: gloss or matte over selected areas.
- **Batch production**: items jigged and run consistently, with personalisation where each piece differs.

## Sizes and shapes that fit

Two things decide whether a container can be printed: its size and its profile. The profile decides more than the material does, and it is the first thing we look at in a photograph.

We run two LSINC presses, the PeriQ360 and the PeriOne. LSINC gives the PeriQ360, which carries four items at a time, a container diameter of 38 to 114 mm, a length of up to 406 mm and a taper of plus 10 to minus 2 degrees. It gives the single-spindle PeriOne up to 152 mm in diameter and 457 mm in length, with the same minimum diameter and taper. The length is the length of the container, not the height of the artwork. These are the manufacturer’s published limits, not our promise for every container inside them: the shoulder, the neck, the base and any coating also decide the result. That is why the rule is to send one sample first.

### Straight-sided

A true cylinder keeps a constant distance from the printhead all the way round and all the way up, which is the ideal case. The printable band can run the full height of the straight section.

Cans, straight bottles, tumblers and most jars fall here.

### Tapered, shouldered and oval

As soon as the body tapers, flares at the shoulder or is oval rather than round, the surface no longer holds a constant distance from the head as it turns.

That does not rule it out, and a great deal of fragrance work is shaped. It does mean the printable band has to be defined deliberately, usually over the straightest part of the body, and the artwork planned to fit it. Send a side-on photograph and we will tell you where the band falls. We print for customers in all seven emirates, and for the wider GCC by courier. Bottle, can and tumbler work comes from:

- **Beverage brands**: water, juice, coffee and speciality drinks.
- **Fragrance and oud houses**: bottles and body spray cans.
- **Cosmetics and personal care**: jars, mists and containers.
- **Corporate gifting buyers**: branded drinkware and bottles for events and giveaways.
- **Hospitality**: hotels and restaurants branding their own glassware and bottles.
- **Private-label manufacturers**: decorating the same stock container differently for several brands.

## What to send before we can quote

One sample container tells us the most. Failing that, a photograph from the side is worth more than a paragraph of description:

- **One sample container**, if you can spare it: a coating, a taper or a mould seam only shows on the real item.
- **Photos**: front and side, so we can see the profile and the shoulder.
- **Diameter and height** in millimetres, and the capacity.
- **The material**: glass, aluminium, PET, stainless, coated.
- **Whether it is straight-sided or tapered**.
- **The print area**: full wrap, a band, or one face.
- **Quantity**, and whether this is a sample or a production run.
- **Artwork**, with a note on which elements must stay opaque.
- **Whether the items are filled or empty**: empty is easier and usually cleaner.
- **The date you need them**, so we can tell you what fits.

## How it works

## Technical considerations

Printing a bottle, can or tumbler adds a variable that flat work does not have: the object is moving. Everything else follows from keeping that rotation true and the surface at a constant distance from the head. What decides the result:

### Circumference is the artwork width

The design is prepared as a flat strip whose width equals the circumference of the printed band, so an accurate diameter matters more than it seems.

### Obstructions

Handles, threads, moulding ridges, seams and embossed logos all interrupt the surface. Tell us about them.

### The material

Glass, aluminium, PET and stainless each have their own adhesion behaviour, and some plastics are low surface energy and need pre-treatment.

### Coatings and lacquer

A lacquered bottle or a coated tumbler is a print onto that coating, and its quality sets the result.

### Contents and use

A fragrance bottle meets alcohol, a tumbler meets a dishwasher. Tell us what the item will actually go through, and we will test rather than assume.

## Common questions

### Is there a minimum order for bottle printing?

No. There are no screens or plates to make, so there is no minimum order. We print one bottle as a sample, short runs for a launch or an event, and production quantities on the same two presses. Tell us the quantity with your brief so the quote matches the run.

### Do you supply the bottles, or do we send our own?

You send them. Sun Studio prints on containers the customer supplies and does not make or stock bottles, cans or tumblers. Buy from your usual packaging supplier, send one piece first so we can check the size, profile and coating, then deliver the rest to the studio in Al Quoz once the sample is approved.

### How long does a bottle printing run take?

There is no standard figure, because the time depends on the quantity, the number of designs, the ink layers and whether the surface needs pre-treatment. We quote the timing for your job after the sample is printed and approved. Give us your deadline with the brief and we will tell you plainly whether it fits.

### What do you need from us to quote?

One sample container if you can, or front and side photographs with the diameter and height. Add the material, the quantity, the print area and the artwork: vector for logos and type, with type outlined, and high-resolution raster for photographs. Tell us which elements must stay opaque and whether the items are filled.

### Can you print on tapered bottles?

Often yes. A taper changes the distance between the surface and the printheads as the bottle turns, so the printable band is set deliberately, usually over the straightest part of the body. LSINC gives both presses a taper limit of plus 10 to minus 2 degrees. A straight-sided bottle takes a full wrap with no seam. Send a side-on photograph and we will tell you where the band falls.

### Can you print on plastic bottles?

Yes, though plastics vary. Some, polypropylene and polyethylene in particular, have low surface energy and need pre-treatment before ink will hold. Tell us the plastic type and we will confirm. ### Will the print survive a dishwasher?

That depends on the item, the coating and the cycle, so we test rather than promise. Tell us the item is going to be washed and we will print a sample and check it before a run. ### Can you personalise each piece with a different name?

Yes. Because there is no screen or plate, every item in a batch can carry different text, which is why event and gifting work often comes here. Send the list of names with the artwork.

### Can you print mugs with handles?

Send one and we will tell you. A handle interrupts the surface as the item turns, so a handled mug has to be checked on the press before we quote. Tell us where the artwork should sit in relation to the handle, and whether the mug will go through a dishwasher.

### Should the items be full or empty?

Empty, normally. Printing before filling and capping is cleaner and easier to handle. If your items are already filled, tell us and we will advise.
