A Gallery Wall Reverse Printed on 10mm Acrylic

A confidential client wanted a blank office wall to feel collected rather than decorated — monochrome landmark prints hung salon style, Dubai and Abu Dhabi sitting alongside subjects from further afield.

Sun Studio supplied the acrylic, the framing and the print.

The requirement

The client wanted the pieces to still look right years from now, and wanted the wall to carry real physical depth rather than reading as flat posters behind glass.

What we did

The images were printed on the back face of the acrylic rather than the front, so the material sits between the viewer and the ink.

At 10mm the acrylic has enough thickness to give the pieces physical depth rather than reading as flat sheets.

Technical considerations

A wall like this sits at head height in a room people move through all day. Anything printed on the front face of a panel is exposed: it scuffs against a chair back, it marks where someone leans on it, and it dulls exactly where it gets cleaned. Reverse printing puts the ink out of reach of all three.

The outcome

A print surface with nothing exposed to damage, and a wall with depth in it rather than one that sits flat.
