Printed Glass Installations at Umm Al Emarat Park, Abu Dhabi

The management of Mushrif Central Park, now Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi, worked with Sun Studio on custom-printed glass elements throughout key visitor areas.

The glass carries informational displays, partitions and decorative cladding across a large, high-traffic public park.

The brief

Printed glass performing reliably outdoors: durable against constant public contact, resistant to regional heat and sunlight, visually integrated with the park architecture, and certified safety glass throughout.

Our approach

The artwork was printed onto the glass panels themselves rather than applied as film, and the panels were specified as safety glass for a public setting.

Informational and decorative elements were treated as one family so the glass reads as part of the park rather than as signage added to it.

Production detail

Outdoor glass in the UAE takes sustained sun and heat. How long any printed glass holds outdoors depends on the ink and primer, how completely it is cured, which face carries the print and how it is cleaned — which is why the build-up is decided per installation rather than per material.

The result

Glass features that add information and visual interest across the park while standing up to constant public use.
