Cylindrical Printing in Dubai: Bottles, Cans, Tumblers and Jars
Direct UV printing onto a round container wraps a full 360 degrees with no seam and lays nothing over the surface — the one thing a label and a shrink sleeve cannot do.

Cylindrical printing means printing artwork directly onto a round object — a bottle, a can, a tumbler or a jar — while the object turns on its own axis under a fixed print head. Sun Studio runs LSINC cylindrical presses in Al Quoz, the PeriOne and the PeriQ, so the ink is cured onto the container itself.
That decides how the pack behaves afterwards. A label has an edge, and an edge lifts. A shrink sleeve has a seam and a shoulder to distort over. Both are properties of laying a second material on top of a first.
How does a 360-degree seamless wrap actually work?
The object rotates and the head stays still. The press grips the container on its axis, turns it under the head, and lays ink as the surface passes underneath. The image is built during the revolution rather than applied to it, so where the artwork ends is where it began.
That is why a repeating pattern can close on a bottle: the file is built to the true circumference of the printed band. A wrapped label cannot, because its two ends overlap. A shrink sleeve cannot, because the film is welded into a tube first.

Which container shapes can be printed — straight, tapered or shouldered?
Straight walls are simplest, gentle tapers and shoulders need the right fixture, and hard compound curves are the limit. A tapered vessel changes circumference as you travel up the wall, so it has to be held to present that wall to the head and the file built to the taper.
The constraint is geometry, not machinery: where the wall stops behaving like a cylinder, printing stops with it. A square or oval bottle is not a cylinder at all, so those are printed face by face on the Direct Color Systems UV84 flatbed — also where lids, trays and boxes are printed so a set matches.

Why print direct instead of applying a label or a shrink sleeve?
Because there is nothing to lift, bubble, shrink back or misregister. A self-adhesive label fails at its edge, and the Gulf gives it every reason to: a boot in August, a chilled cabinet, condensation, an oil or alcohol in the product itself. A sleeve has no such edge, but it distorts to clear a shoulder, so type near the neck stretches and the film covers the glass you paid for.

Do you need a white base to print on clear glass?
Yes, for anything that has to hold its brand colour. CMYK inks are translucent, so on clear glass the colour you see is the ink plus whatever is behind it — the liquid, the shelf, the light. An opaque white layer underneath keeps a brand red the same on a clear bottle, an amber jar and a black anodised tumbler.
Leaving the white out is a choice, not a compromise: colour printed straight onto glass reads as a tint and lets the product show through. Decide it at artwork stage, because it changes how the file is built.

What is the minimum order quantity for bottle printing in the UAE?
Lower than a label or a sleeve, because there is no tooling to pay off. Screen printing needs a screen per colour, pad printing needs a plate, and a shrink sleeve needs its own film run first. Direct UV printing has none of that, so the cost floor is setup and fixturing time. The realistic minimum depends on the container and whether it needs a fixture.

How should artwork be set up for a 360-degree wrap?
Flat, at the true circumference, in vector, with the seam decided on purpose. A wrap file is a rectangle: printable circumference wide by printable wall height tall. Measure at the band that will be printed, not at the widest point of the bottle.
Send a physical container before artwork is locked. Wall height, taper, mould seams and the point where a shoulder begins all change a layout, and none of them are reliable from a rendering.

- Keep a clear margin at the rim, the base and the start of the shoulder
- Place the seam behind the front face, and flag any mould seam so artwork can avoid it
- Supply Arabic text as outlines to protect the shaping and the ligatures
How is durability tested before a run is approved?
On a printed sample, put through the conditions the product will really meet. Adhesion is built at the front of the process, not the back: every container is cleaned, degreased and primed on the MODICO ModiTreat, which combines four pre-treatment technologies in one unit and is what produces the scratch and alcohol resistant adhesion. The print is then sealed under a UV-cured varnish pass.
That is the process argument. The proof is a sample you are allowed to abuse — printed on your own container, tested the way the product will be handled.

A round container is the easiest thing to brand badly, because every shortcut shows at the seam.
