Printed Aluminium Display Panels for Sharjah Heritage Museum
Sharjah Heritage Museum commissioned Sun Studio to produce custom printed aluminium panels for an interior display project in the Heart of Sharjah.
The panels carry historical photographs and text, printed onto metal rather than mounted on it.

The requirement
Presenting delicate historical photographs and text with precision, on panels light enough for flexible exhibition design yet sturdy against close visitor scrutiny.
What we did
The images were printed direct onto the aluminium, so the panel is the print rather than a carrier for one, and there is no laminate edge to lift in a display case.
Panels were kept light enough to be rehung as the exhibition changes.
Technical considerations
Metal is smooth and non-porous, and most sheet arrives with a coating or mill finish that decides how ink behaves on it. Surface condition, cleaning and pre-treatment are what govern adhesion here, so they are settled before a panel is printed.

The outcome
A durable medium for the museum’s historical content, with exhibition design that stays flexible.
