Custom Box Printing in Dubai

Sun Studio prints artwork directly onto plain boxes you already have: rigid gift boxes, presentation boxes and lids, at our studio in Al Quoz, Dubai. You supply the boxes; we print them, and we do not manufacture them. A logo, a pattern, a line of Arabic calligraphy or a different name on every lid is printed onto the box itself, not onto a sticker.

It suits corporate gifts, chocolate and date boxes, wedding favours and product launches, from a single sample to a full run, with no minimum order. Which faces can be printed, and in which finish, depends on the material and on how the box is built, so every job starts with a photograph. Materials, artwork and small quantities are explained in our guide to printing on plain gift boxes.

What we can print

The outer surface is what receives the ink, and two boxes described the same way can carry very different coverings, so we assess the actual box before confirming production:

  • Rigid paper and magnetic gift boxes: paper-wrapped boxes for chocolates, perfume sets, jewellery and corporate presentations. Matte, glossy and soft-touch coverings are assessed one by one.
  • Leather and PU-covered presentation boxes: a discreet logo, a personalised name or a decorative design. Natural leather and PU behave differently; see leather printing.
  • Wooden and MDF boxes: colour with the grain showing through, or white under the artwork. Raw, painted and varnished wood need different preparation; see wood and MDF printing.
  • Clear and coloured acrylic boxes and lids: printed details with clear areas left clear, and reverse printing on suitable removable lids; see acrylic printing.
  • Velvet and flocked presentation boxes: printed in white or colour, with the soft pile changing how a printed edge looks; see printing on velvet boxes.
  • Corrugated cartons: assessed case by case. A carton printed while folded flat can carry print on more than one panel.

Printing capabilities

What applies depends on the box material and on which faces can be reached:

Which faces can be printed

The lid and the other faces

The accessible flat lid is usually the most straightforward area. Printing other faces depends on whether the box can be held securely with enough clearance around the print area: tall walls, recessed panels, hinges, handles and uneven surfaces can restrict access, and a design cannot be assumed to wrap across corners in one operation.

A removable lid, or a box supplied flat, may open up faces that an assembled box does not. Tell us which faces you want printed before the artwork is final.

Food gift boxes

For chocolate, date and sweet boxes, the print decorates the packaging, not the food. Standard decorative UV printing should not be assumed suitable for direct food contact, so tell us how the box is arranged inside.

Printing on the chocolate itself is a separate service with edible ink: see food printing.

Who this is for

Box printing reaches us from:

  • Corporate gifting teams and agencies: branded boxes for client gifts, staff recognition and VIP presentations. Gift items themselves are covered under corporate gift printing.
  • Chocolate, date and sweet gift sellers: a logo or a seasonal design on plain boxes for Ramadan, Eid or a launch.
  • Wedding and event planners: favour boxes with names, monograms and dates.
  • Brands and product launches: presentation boxes and PR kits in small runs.
  • Perfume and gift sets: rigid presentation boxes that match the printed piece inside.

What to send before we can quote

With boxes, the construction matters as much as the material:

  • Photographs of the box, the lid and the faces you want printed, outside and inside.
  • Dimensions, including the height when assembled.
  • Material and finish, if you know them.
  • Quantity, and whether every design is the same or personalised.
  • Artwork: vector logos and text where possible, photographs at a resolution suited to the print size, and personalised wording that is final and approved.
  • The finish you want: flat colour, white, raised detail or reverse-printed acrylic.
  • Your date and location: when the finished boxes must be in hand, and where.

Not sure which file to send? Our artwork preparation guide covers file formats, vector conversion and what each surface needs.

Technical considerations

Supplying your own boxes does not remove the need to check their surface and construction. What decides the result:

The covering
Paper wraps, soft-touch laminates, leather, PU, wood, acrylic and velvet each take ink differently, and a coating can change the result more than the box material underneath. We assess the actual box.
Access
The box has to sit securely with clearance around the print area. Hinges, magnets, tall walls and recessed panels decide which faces can be reached.
Colour on the actual box
The colour and texture under the print change how artwork appears compared with a screen preview, so colour-sensitive branding is approved on the real box.
Raised detail
Height and fine detail depend on the artwork and the material. A small raised logo with flat supporting text is often the most restrained option, and a sample shows the look and feel.
Food contact
Decorative UV print is for the outside of the packaging. Tell us if any printed face will sit inside the box next to the food.

Common questions

Do you make or supply the boxes?
No. You supply the boxes, or your box supplier delivers them to our studio in Al Quoz. Sun Studio prints; it does not manufacture the boxes it prints on. If you have not bought them yet, send a sample or the supplier’s specification first, so you can choose a box that suits the artwork and the finish.
Is there a minimum order for box printing?
No. A single sample, 30 boxes or a full run are all normal orders, because digital UV printing needs no screen or plate for each design. No minimum order does not mean no preparation: alignment, artwork, sampling and surface preparation are still part of the job, and the price per box falls as the quantity rises.
Can you print the sides and the inside of a box?
Sometimes. The flat lid is usually the most straightforward face. Other faces depend on the box being held securely with clearance around the print area, and tall walls, recessed panels and hinges can stop it. A removable lid, or a box supplied flat, may open up more faces. We confirm the printable faces on your box.
Can every box carry a different name?
Yes. Names and designs change from a file, so a list of recipients can be printed from one set-up. Supply the final, approved spelling, including the Arabic, with a clear list of which name goes on which box.
Is raised UV printing the same as embossing?
No. Embossing presses a shape into the material with tooling. Raised UV printing builds ink up above the surface in layers, so it needs no die and can change from box to box. A printed sample is the best way to judge how it looks and feels on your box.
Can you print boxes for chocolates and dates?
We print the outside of the packaging. Standard decorative UV printing should not be assumed suitable for direct food contact, so tell us how the box is arranged inside, especially if a reverse-printed acrylic lid faces the food. Printing on the chocolate itself is a separate service, with edible ink.
How long does a box printing order take?
There is no fixed figure: it depends on sampling, artwork approval and the production schedule. Tell us the date you need the finished boxes in hand, and we confirm whether it is feasible before the order is committed.
Do you deliver the printed boxes?
Printed boxes are collected from our studio in Al Quoz or delivered within the UAE, with delivery quoted per job. Tell us where the boxes have to arrive when you ask for the quotation.

Have plain boxes to print?

Send us a photo of the box, its dimensions, the quantity and the artwork. We will confirm which faces can be printed and which finish suits the surface, and print a sample where the box is new to us.
