Personalised Acrylic Boxes and Trays in Dubai: Raised, White and Gloss Finishes
Names, monograms and full floral designs printed straight onto acrylic boxes, lids and trays at our studio in Al Quoz, Dubai: flat or raised so you can feel them, with white ink and clear gloss.

Can an acrylic box or tray be personalised in Dubai?
Yes. A plain acrylic box, lid or tray can be personalised with a name, a monogram or a full floral design printed straight onto the acrylic. At Sun Studio in Al Quoz, Dubai, we print it flat or raised so you can feel it, back it with white so colours stay bright on clear acrylic, and seal it in clear gloss.
At a glance:
- Pieces: acrylic boxes and lids, serving and engagement trays, chocolate and date boxes, favour boxes, display boxes.
- Finishes: full colour, white ink, raised print, clear gloss, and reverse print on clear acrylic.
- Acrylic: clear, frosted, opaque, coloured and gold.
- Wording: English and Arabic names, monograms and dates.
- Quantity: one suitable piece, a sample or a full run, with no minimum order for UV printing done in our studio.
- Supply: you bring the box or tray; we print it and do not make it. We can source acrylic sheet on request, quoted as its own line.
The piece in these photographs is our own work: an oval of gold acrylic with a raised cherry-blossom wreath and a monogram R. The case study shows how it was built.
What can be personalised
Most acrylic gift pieces have at least one flat face we can print: the lid of a box, the base of a tray, the front of a display box. Curved edges, hinges and fixings stay unprinted.
- Acrylic boxes and lids. The lid carries the design on chocolate, date, perfume and jewellery boxes. Flat sides can be printed too where the walls and hinges leave them reachable. Our Direct Color Systems UV44 flatbed takes objects up to 30 cm tall; send the size and we confirm the fit.
- Acrylic trays. Serving trays, engagement and wedding trays, and majlis trays for Ramadan and Eid. The design goes on the top of the base or, on clear acrylic, underneath it for a smooth finish.
- Boxes bought elsewhere. Plain acrylic boxes from a supplier, an online shop or Dragon Mart can be printed if the face is flat and clean. Bring one piece first so we can check the surface and the fit.
The finishes, and what each one looks like on acrylic
The finish decides how the piece feels in the hand, so choose it before the artwork is final.
| Finish | What it is | How it looks on acrylic | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full colour | Colour ink printed on the surface | Photographic colour. On clear acrylic, without white behind it, it looks like stained glass | Florals, patterns, logos |
| White ink | An opaque white layer, under colour or on its own | Keeps colours solid on clear, gold or dark acrylic; crisp white lettering on its own | Names on clear lids, white monograms |
| Raised print | White ink stacked in chosen areas, with colour and gloss over it | A design you can feel. Petals and letters stand off the surface and catch the light | Monograms, borders, flowers, logos |
| Clear gloss | Clear varnish over the whole design or only chosen areas | A wet, enamelled shine that also protects the print | Premium pieces, high-touch lids |
| Reverse print | Artwork printed on the back of clear acrylic and read through the front | A smooth glossy face with the image under the surface | Removable clear lids and trays that should feel flat |
The two can work together. A clear lid can carry a reverse-printed background under the surface and a raised monogram on top, a combination we run as reverse plus embossed. How acrylic printing works explains direct and reverse printing in more detail.

How a raised floral design is built
Raised printing is often called embossed or 3D printing. The relief is built in ink, layer by layer, with no die and no applied parts.
- The artwork gets a second layer that marks what should stand up: petals, letters, the border.
- White ink is printed over those areas again and again. Each pass cures under UV light as it lands, so the next one stacks on top.
- The full-colour design is printed over and around the raised areas, so the colour sits on the relief.
- Clear gloss goes on last, over everything or only on the raised parts.
Height is press time: more layers mean more passes, which is part of the price. We can build up to about 6 mm of relief, and most gift pieces need only a small part of that. Our guide to raised and 3D embossed UV printing covers the layers and the limits.

Clear, gold or coloured acrylic: what changes
- Clear. Colours need white behind them to look solid. Without it they glow like stained glass, which suits some designs. For a smooth face, reverse print instead, on a lid that comes off or a tray base we can reach from underneath.
- Gold. The sheet shows through wherever there is no ink, so it becomes the background colour. White goes under pinks and pale colours so they stay true rather than turning gold.
- Coloured and opaque (white, black and colours). Colour prints straight onto the sheet; white is needed for light colours on dark acrylic.
- Frosted. A softer, satin look. Add gloss to the design if you want it to shine against the frost.

Weddings, engagements, Eid and corporate gifts
Weddings and engagements. Initials, names in English and Arabic, and the date on engagement trays, bridal chocolate trays and favour boxes. One design across the tray and the boxes makes a set.
Ramadan and Eid. Date and chocolate boxes, and trays for the majlis. Searches for Ramadan gift boxes climb steeply in the weeks before Ramadan, so approve a sample early.
Corporate gifts. A raised logo on a lid turns a plain box into branded packaging for client gifts and launches. See corporate gift printing.
A note on food. Standard decorative UV printing should not be assumed suitable for direct food contact. For chocolates and dates we print the outside of the lid or the underside of a tray, or you add a liner or doily. Printing on the chocolate itself is a separate service with edible ink: see edible food printing.
Designing artwork for a raised finish
- Send monograms and lettering as vector files (AI, PDF or SVG) with fonts converted to outlines. Floral artwork can be a high-resolution image.
- Mark what should be raised on its own named layer, or tell us which parts should stand up and we prepare the layer with you.
- Make raised lines a little thicker than flat ones. A tall stack rounds slightly at the edges, so hairlines do not build well.
- Keep raised detail clear of edges, hinges and clasps.
- For Arabic calligraphy, choose a weight with open shapes so raised letters stay readable.
- For individual names, send a spreadsheet with the exact spelling in each language.
What decides the price and the timing
Every job is quoted on its brief. The price depends on the size of the printed area, the number of raised layers, white ink, the quantity, whether each piece carries a different name, and who supplies the acrylic. What drives UV printing cost in Dubai explains each factor.
For timing, we print a sample first, then the run once you approve it. Tell us the date you need the finished pieces in hand and we confirm it with the quote.
