Candle & Jar Printing in Dubai

Sun Studio prints artwork directly onto candle vessels and glass jars at our Al Quoz studio. The design goes onto the glass itself, so a candle can carry a brand, a name or an occasion without a label that softens in the heat or peels off in a gift box.

It is used by UAE candle makers and home fragrance brands, by gifting companies producing corporate and wedding favours, and by hotels and restaurants branding the candles on their own tables.

What we can print

Candle vessels are mostly glass and mostly straight-sided, which makes them one of the more straightforward things we print:

• Clear glass jars — where white ink decides whether the design reads as colour or as a tint over the wax.
• Frosted and satin vessels — a soft ground that colour sits well against.
• Coloured and lacquered glass — where the vessel colour is part of the design.
• Straight-sided jars — printed as a full 360° wrap.
• Tapered and shaped vessels — printed over the straightest part of the body.
• Metal lids and wooden lids — so the whole piece is finished, not just the jar.
• Single pieces and short runs — one jar for a sample, or a batch where every name is different.

Printing capabilities

What suits your vessel depends on its shape and glass:

• Direct UV printing — cured onto the glass with nothing applied over it.
• 360° wrap — a continuous band around a straight-sided jar with no seam.
• White ink — printed under the artwork so colour holds against the wax and the glass.
• Fine detail and calligraphy — Arabic script, names and dates at small sizes.
• Raised and textured effects — so a monogram can be felt as well as seen.
• Varnish — gloss or matte over selected areas.
• Personalisation — every jar in a batch carrying a different name, with no extra setup.

Printing before filling or after

This is the practical question that most affects a candle order, and it is worth settling before jars are bought.

Printed empty, then filled

This is the route we recommend. Empty vessels are light, easy to jig, easy to clean before printing and easy to handle without risk to a finished product.

It also means the whole outer surface is available, so a design can run the full height of the jar rather than stopping at a fill line.

Printed after filling

Sometimes unavoidable — the candles already exist, or the filling happens elsewhere. It can be done, with care.

The constraints are real: a filled candle is heavier and more awkward to jig accurately, wax and wick residue on the glass has to be cleaned off first, and any handling risk now applies to finished stock rather than to empty glass. Tell us which situation you are in when you send the job.

• The print area — full wrap or a panel.
• Artwork, and the name list if pieces are personalised.

Technical considerations

A candle jar is glass, so the printing behaves the way glass does. What makes it its own job is everything that happens to the jar afterwards.

What to think about:

• Glass is non-porous — the same adhesion question as any glass work: cleaning matters, and an adhesion promoter is used where the vessel calls for it.
• Heat from the candle — a burning candle warms the vessel. It is worth telling us the vessel type and how it will be used so we can sample accordingly rather than assume.
• Wax and wick residue — on filled candles, any residue on the outside has to be cleaned off before printing.
• The wax shows through — on clear glass, the wax colour sits behind the artwork. White ink under the design is what stops the colour shifting as the candle burns down.
• Fill line — on a filled candle, the wax level is visible through the design. Worth planning the artwork around.
• Profile — straight-sided jars wrap cleanly; tapered ones need the printable band defined.
• Handling and packing — printed glass is packed to protect the print, especially where jars are going straight into gift boxes.
